Who is Stuart Render?

With a career in transport, travel and tourism covering more than 40 years, Stuart Render is a coach and group tourism professional with a unique background.

As a former editor of coach tourism trade magazine Coach Monthly, and former chairman of the judging panel of the National Coach Tourism Awards (now renamed British Coach Tourism Awards), he understands the coach tourism market more than most. As someone who has written about visitor attractions and destinations across the UK and continental Europe, interviewed tourism professionals from all parts of the sector, and reported on the issues affecting the industry, he can offer a unique overview of what works, what doesn’t, and what could be improved.

Stuart was chair of judges and co-host of the National Coach Tourism Awards from 2010 to 2015. In 2014 the event was held at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom. He was joined on the night by co-host Judith Chalmers (second from right), soprano Rebecca Newman, and tenor Gari Glaysher

But there’s more to Stuart than that.

He’s a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (FCIPR) and The Tourism Society (FTS), a Board Member of the British Guild of Travel Writers, and a former Board member of the Coach Tourism Association. He’s a speaker on coach tourism issues, and has facilitated business seminars at trade shows including Best of Britain & Ireland/British Tourism & Travel Show, Coach & Bus Live, and Euro Bus Expo.

Prior to working in the coach tourism sector, Stuart enjoyed a lengthy career working in senior public relations roles with major companies and organisations, including FirstGroup, National Express and Greater Manchester Police. He also has a full PCV licence, meaning he can actually drive coaches and buses too, a skill that enables him to write a range of road test features for industry magazines.

Stuart’s experience of coach tourism and coach tour operators, combined with a passion for what he does, will enthuse, encourage and inspire you. If you’re a visitor attraction, tourism destination, industry supplier, hotel or tourism organisation, working with Stuart will help you identify the opportunities that coach tourism can offer in terms of attracting, welcoming and delighting more coaches and groups. He will help you develop your coach and group-friendly credentials. If you’re a coach operator or industry organisation, Stuart can support you with writing press releases, editing your brochures, newsletters and website content, and exploring opportunities to generate positive PR.

Stuart says: “I set up Stuart Render Tourism at the start of 2016 to offer consultancy, writing and PR support to those visitor attractions, destinations, hotels and industry suppliers who recognise the benefits of developing their coach and group-friendly products and industry credentials. Since then my client list has included tour wholesalers, regional and continental European tourist organisations, individual destinations and visitor attractions, hoteliers and industry organisations.”
